The everyday compression stocking. It is firmest at the ankle and eases off as it climbs to the knee, so your calves get a snug, even squeeze without a tourniquet feel. The open toe layers easily under socks and sneakers.

Knitted from latex-free, double-covered Lycra blended with composite yarn: stretchy enough to pull on, breathable enough for a twelve-hour shift, and made to hold its shape wash after wash.

Measure: Calf circumference, at mid-calf about 13 cm (5 in) below the knee.

1. Sit and rest your foot on a low stool.
2. Wrap a soft tape around the fullest part of your calf, about 13 cm below the knee.
3. Keep the tape flat and level, snug but not tight, and read it in centimetres.

1. Slide your hand into the stocking and pinch the heel from the inside.
2. Turn the stocking inside out down to the heel.
3. Step in, settle your heel into place, then ease the rest up to just below the knee.
4. Smooth out every wrinkle. The fabric should lie flat and never fold over at the top.

• Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent.
• Dry flat, in the shade.
• Do not iron, bleach, tumble dry or dry clean.

• Take them off and seek advice if you feel numbness, tingling or pain, or notice skin discolouration.
